You may be surprised to know that ultrasound scans can be used very early on in pregnancy, from around 5 weeks onwards, to monitor your baby’s progress and put your mind at rest.
Just pregnant
For many new mothers, it’s often very reassuring to have an ultrasound scan during early pregnancy, especially if you’re anxious about your pregnancy or having a baby. Plus of course, a scan can help to make your pregnancy feel more ‘real’ whilst answering any questions or concerns you may have. Best of all, you can visit Proscan at a time that suits you, rather than having to wait for a hospital appointment – putting you in control of your pregnancy.

An early ultrasound scan can determine how many weeks pregnant you are, see if you’re expecting twins or multiple babies and also check to see if your baby is growing in the right place. A pregnancy that implants outside the womb is known as an ectopic pregnancy and although this only occurs in around 1 in 100 pregnancies, ectoptic pregnancies are on in the increase.

In most ectoptic pregnancies the baby begins to develop inside the fallopian tube. Unfortunately, ectopic pregnancies can’t be re-implanted in the womb but in the majority of cases women who have suffered an ectopic pregnancy will be able to become pregnant again.

Why not call us today to book an appointment – so you can get on with enjoying your pregnancy, safe in the knowledge that all is well with you and your baby.
