Today, a simple ultrasound test can also check the condition of your fallopian tubes, without the need for an x-ray or invasive surgery. Naturally, if your fallopian tubes are blocked for example, this could reduce your chances of having a baby.
The scan is called a hysterosalpingo-contrast sonography and involves injecting a special fluid into your womb. We then use an ultrasound probe designed to be inserted into the vagina to follow the progress of the fluid through your tubes. In some cases, flushing out your tubes in this way can actually increase your chances of becoming pregnant.
Rest assured that the process isn’t painful and that as experienced gynaecological and fertility experts we will do our best to make you feel as relaxed as possible throughout your scan. We will also take the time to explain the results of your scan to you fully.
